Steampunk Nerf Gun mod by stardove3 Steampunk Nerf Gun mod by stardove3
Tried to collage in some of the pics of the details since parts turned out blurry. I need a tripod because my hands shake when I take pictures.

But this is the steampunk nerf gun mod I did for myself. Metal fans from a local bead store are on both sides of the barrel. I also glued on some little celtic knot looking "connectors" from Hobby Lobby, buttons and tiny star brads that I cut the backs off of from Michaels.

I spray painted with silver, then used acrylics for the detail work. For the first one I've ever done I'm pretty happy with it.

Now just gotta find some stuff acceptable to boyfriend to trick his out.

You can now commission me to do nerf guns! Please visit our website to do it. [link]

I would ask to see how much something like this would cost but you just can't put a price on extreme awesomeness! XD

I managed to catch the nerf guns on sale when I made this one (they were NOT at Christmas when I did one for my stepdad, stepbrother, and brother @_@). It was about 8 or 9 bucks, I can't remember. I think they're running 10 or 11 not on sale at the moment.

All told, supplies probably cost me about 30 bucks. I got the fans from a local bead store which has a LOT of really cool stuff. Stuff I haven't seen at Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's.

Not sure how long I actually worked on it though. I didn't have all the pieces right away so the work was broken up.

Well it is wootastic and I could see you selling those at cons for at least $50!

I would love to do that!

The issue is I'm in my first year of vet school. It doesn't leave a lot of free time for crafting. :(

NOOOOOOOO!!! School was the reason why for almost two years I didn't put anything new on my Deviant Art account! But I have faith that you can conquer the evil school monster and get an awesome job!

I still have a month and 3 school years before job can be found. *headdesk* I do get a summer this year and next though. So I might get to craft some then.

I love school too tho, thankfully.

Thanks so much! First one I've ever tried. Got lucky with some craft store fines. :D

:D

I ended up just painting a few for my stepdad, brother, stepbrother and boyfriend as well. Still working on finding things to finish up my boyfriend's. The fans were a little too feminine for his taste. I also wanted to just get my stepdad started to see what he came up with because he's a professional sculptor.

But I'm considering starting to do some to sell, if I can get a job to get me started on buying the guns. But I still have plenty of paint, and the detail stuff wouldn't be difficult to acquire.

I loved doing it, but I don't need 20 steampunk guns. XD

Ooh, I bet you can collab with your Stepdad and come up with some very awesome conceptual guns!

Lol, I know what you mean, but it would make a good business me thinks. Events like comic con or cosplay cons, you can make a killer out of those alone. I wish you the best of luck! :huggle:

When/where is it?

I don't know if I'll be able to swing it this year with vet school and what not. Boyfriend is trying to move currently.

Thanks for the info. I think we thought about going last year, we found out about it at Anime Punch.

It'll depend on boyfriend moving and financial situation as far as this year is concerned, because that's after school is done.
